Prescribing exercise: £250,000 award to fund research A special award of £250,000 to fund a major research project into prescribing exercise in physiotherapy practice has been announced by the CSP Charitable Trust. The one-off funding was made possible when the CSP Council decided to allocate a portion of the Society's financial surplus to a major piece of research. The trustees decided that the research should focus on prescribing exercise within one or more core area of physiotherapy, such as musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory and neurological physiotherapy. It is hoped that the findings will support the commissioning of physiotherapy services. The commissioning brief, application guidance notes, registration of intent form and application form are available through the CSP website: www.csp.org.uk. The deadline for registration of intent is July 15th. |

Participants needed for Rebound Research |

The ACPPLD executive committee have been contacted by a Physiotherapist currently completing their Masters at University of Brighton, who is carrying out a piece of research into Rebound Therapy. The title of the study is 'Therapists' experience in using Rebound Therapy for clients with neurological conditions or special needs' Despite many of us across the country practising rebound therapy on a regular basis, there is a severe lack of research available in regard to rebound. The committee have therefore welcomed this piece of work and wish to give any assistance we can to the study. The study requires a minimum of 10 physiotherapists who are using rebound therapy with these two client groups (special needs or neurological conditions), to participate in an interview about their experiences. Further information is detailed in the participant information sheet (click link below) Participant Information Sheet If you are interested in being part of this exciting research, please either contact Heba directly (details on the information sheet) or contact the committee via the contact us section of this website, and we shall be happy to pass on your details. Please note Heba requires volunteers as soon as possible, as data collection needs to start very shortly. Footnote - I have now participated in this research myself and can reassure everyone that it is very easy to be a part of. Anyone who has experience of rebound therapy with the client group will be able to answer the questions and give Heba valuable information. She still urgently needs volunteers so please consider doing your bit today. All it took was a few minutes to complete a consent form last week and 45minutes of my day on the telephone today.
