The ACPPLD, Association of Chartered Physiotherapists working with People with a Learning Disability is a clinical interest group of the CSP, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
The aim is to provide a quality service, which is responsive to the needs of the membership, clients and carers.
This includes; information update and exchange, national networking, support and promotion of evidence based practice and research and to improve the awareness of the rights and needs of people.

ALE Closing date extended

The organising committee for this year's Learning event met with Strathclyde University staff this week and have been able to negotiate an extension on the date for confirming final numbers. This has allowed us to extend the closing date for applications by a further week. The committee has agreed that as this extension will not incur us any cost, the late booking fee will not be charged on any applications that are recieved during the extension period. The final closing date for applications is now Monday 25th August 2008.

Whether you have been thinking about attending but hadn't got around to applying, or had been put off by the late booking fee, now is your last chance. The programme for the event is looking very good (updated version just added in the ALE section) and there will be lots of opportunity for good networking with your peers. Application form is also available in the ALE section which can be emailed if preferred to ensure you make the deadline.

The Ann Russell Memorial Trust

The Ann Russell Memorial Trust was set up in the memory of Ann Russell, Unit Superintendent Physiotherapist of the Glenfrith Unit for adults with learning disabilities in Leicestershire, following her death in July 1991.

The fund was donated by friends and colleagues of Ann so that she would be remembered in areas of her special interest and where her professional life was focused.

The national executive committee of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists for People with Learning Disabilities, (ACPPLD), have been appointed as the trustees and administrators of the Ann Russell Memorial Trust from January 1994.
